The emergence of mobile technologies has provided enterprises new and efficient means for
communication. However, the major concern about the use of such technologies is their ability to
facilitate teamwork and co-ordination of activities between professionals spread over remote
locations that may be situated across the globe. Since dispersed professionals may not meet
face-to-face much of the time, any mobile technology that they use should be interactive,
substituting for personal contact. Solutions that emphasize teamwork and interaction lead to
enhanced efficiency at work, which may result in tangible cost savings.
MobiPro
Team™ is a wireless communication solution that enables enterprises to send or receive information
(messages and chat) between mobile devices and PCs using SMS as a mobile gateway. MobiPro Team™
not only supports current GSM technologies like SMS and WAP, but also emerging next-generation
technologies like CDMA, GPRS and 3G.
The accentuating feature that differentiates this product from other chat modules is the
different medium of chat. MobiPro Team™ facilitates chat between PCs and mobile phones, which
enables you to communicate from your desktop to any location on the globe. The user chats with
another user without having to know whether the person is available at their desk, or is out of the
office. The dispatcher module of the MobiPro server keeps track of these details and ensures that
the message is delivered to the right device, ie, PC or mobile handset.
Further, the MobiPro Team™ infrastructure is located within the corporate firewall and
therefore any security implications of using public access solutions is avoided wholly.
In addition to one-to-one or one-to-many chat, MobiPro Team™ supports broadcasts of
messages. For example, a message may be broadcasted to a set of service engineers to attend to
a customer problem at the earliest. Service personnel attending to the problem may then chat
with, or broadcast queries to other service engineers to seek clarification or resolve issues
arising at the customer site. In this manner, coordination of business activities is carried
out in an efficient, unobtrusive and cost effective manner.
