Electronics For You April 22, 2002 -- Now your PC or any such devices can talk to a cell phone through a middleware called transceiver that is connected to new software, MobiPro. City-based Wireless Digital Communications (WDC Solutions), a firm that delivers convergence solutions and products for multiple wireless technologies has developed MobiPro, a software development kit that allows developers to add wireless functionalities to mobile devices. According to WDC Solutions MobiPro extended the reach of applications to the mobile devices, cellular phones and PDAs. It offers the plumbing required to connect applications residing on corporate servers in a wired environment to mobile devices. This software is a comprehensive, easy-to-use modular library that provides data connectivity and delivers over a range of wireless technologies including SMS, WAP and any synchronisation compatible with wireless LAN and Bluetooth. The solution works over 2G, 2.5G and 3G networks enabling information to be delivered on smart devices anywhere and anytime, thereby redefining the benefits of mobile technologies. WDC has completed the implementation of MobiPro for various clients including, Hewlett Packard. The product is expected to enhance business interactions at HP`s computer business operations division that currently has over 40 sales personnel and around 800 channel partners across the country. Inclusive of hardware and software, an unlimited MobiPro site license will cost around Rs 70,000 while for limited use, per (per cell phone) installation will cost Rs 5,000 with hardware and transceiver access fee of Rs 10,000. |
